Tasting the Flavors of China

Image
It was one of those Saturday afternoons when I finally got to do something for myself. After I had my hair permed , A and I went straight to Taste of China to grab some dinner. I had already eaten here once with my family, but too bad I haven't had my camera with me. It was when mom came to visit me where I work. They were all satisfied with the food from Flavors of China. Definitely worth the money you have paid for. THE FOOD A and I had ordered the same dish, Lauriat . The meal includes one cup of rice, canton, one piece of golden brown fried chicken, three pieces lumpia shanghai, one buchi and crackers. Up close dish shot: As lovers of appetizers, we enjoyed this free bowl of crackers. I love munching on them while waiting for our orders to come. {Thanks to blackshirt13 for making me remember that this was for free.} THE DRINKS As usual, we had Iced Tea  for our drinks. The lemon made the drink tangy and more seasoned. THE DETAILS Their place mat is an orange paper with printed

Lately, I got hooked with this

Okay, I remembered my younger self saying that giveaway blogs are a waste of time. But, earlier this month, I began eating my words. I created a giveaway/coupon/deal blog inspired by Metrodeal, Ensogo and CashCashPinoy and urged by financial shortcomings. See. Christmas is fast approaching and my bank accounts are well, not that stuffed, close to empty. But, I am happy to know that me (and mom) have paid all our debts (that I knew of. I think she is still keeping some secrets.) Believe me, borrowing will not get you anywhere. I don't want to elaborate the drama of my life. But, if you are watching Pretty Little Liars, then you can say that I can totally relate to Hanna and her mom. :} It's something that we tackle together and though it's something that I detest, it's something that shapes up your character and stretches out your patience. Anyway, so I am happy because so far, I have won several things which could really help me in some of my endeavors. Here,

Booktrack: Reading Never Sounded So Good

Image
I don't know if I feel blessed or cursed when I came across A 's post about Booktrack. What is Booktrack , you ask. Well, it's like watching the movies, only better. While you read, there are sounds (ambient, sound effects and music) on the background, integrated within the e-book. I am not sure, however, with how you are going to welcome the idea. Some people want complete silence while reading as they get distracted by the faintest click. Some can read with beeps honking. You can count me in on the latter group. I can totally isolate myself in a different world even if I'm in a busy area. So, I guess with Book Tracks, I would be tremendously immersed in my reading. Totally. And I need to read at home to be safe. Translation: No dashing jeepeneys. No potential mobile phone snatching. Here, watch this Booktrack Video to know what I am talking about. So? How was it? Did you like idea? Or like like it? Or hate it? I read a lot of negative reactions . Some t

Gumbo: Saturday Lunch with Officemates

Image
This lunch out happened months ago when we got our bonuses. A bunch of people from work, some who happen to be my neighbors, and I decided to go out and eat. So, Gumbo gave us a taste of New Orleans. Upon entering, you can see that it is a busy place -- a birthday on a table nearby, a double date between Pinay-foreigner lovers and waiters in colorful hats. With the hat variety, I had a hard time fingering what the resto theme really is. It was kind of late for lunch, so choosing the food was rushed. It's a bit pricey in there, though. THE FOOD They served us two loaves of bread with some clear dip, which I have no idea of what it was. The bread taste delicious, not ordinary.  But that didn't serve as our only appetizer. We also had Steamed Pacific Clams . I like how the taste of garlic butter sauce, tomatoes and the chopped green onions played with my tongue. These are my favorite! Coco Mozzarella  Sticks . I love the golden brown coconut breading and the pomodor sauce. I have

Liking the New Facebook Timeline

Image
I have read all about this Facebook bold move all over the internet since yesterday, Sept. 22. I did notice a change in my Facebook homepage -- the blue tabbed posts, the ever moving Ticker, the cute photo collages of your albums and {drum roll} the Facebook Timeline. The reactions of the people on Yahoo!News were negative. Everything I read equated to one single statement: I hate the new Facebook. {Yet, again.} And they all believed that, If it ain't broken, don't fix it. Read all about the New Facebook News and Violent  Users' Reactions:  The Future of Facebook: Out with profile pages, in with the Timeline . But, what do I think about it? First, let me show you my Facebook Profile  Timeline: Facebook Header. You can now have a cover photo (like a blog's header) The Facebook Timeline, which shows up instead of your old profile. So, here are my thoughts about it: I like the way the album is displayed -- sort of like a photo collage. And each

Pep Talking Myself

Image
I am kind of feeling down (again) today. I don't know. I am distracted at work. I don't have the interest in things that I do except blogging. Everything just feels so... wrong. Melancholy gets me these days. Tsk. And though I love the word -- the way the letters are arranged next to each other and the way they sound, I never want to be in that state. So, I hit Pinterest to gather some inspiration to perk me up because I believe That's what I am trying to do. I always overthink and my mind always speed up to the future when things aren't the way I know they should be. So, another note to self on this: These lady rules are so right. One of their rules became my motto when it comes to men, my man, actually. But when I think about {love}, I don't know if I should be happy or sad or moving on or holding on.  If this is true, then why did he left me here. But this doesn't bug me like it used to bug me before. I was a crazy freak before, and I ha
